Covid testing in Cheshire East

Following an increase in cases of Covid in East Cheshire, Cheshire East Council are offering a number of additional testing options for anyone who does not have symptoms

Free PCR lab tests are available at our Crewe and Macclesfield test sites:

  • Crewe local test site, Chester Street car park, Crewe, CW1 2ER – from 8am to 8pm daily 
  • Macclesfield local test site, Commercial Road, Macclesfield, SK10 2QJ – from 8am to 8pm daily 

You do not need an appointment, just turn up. We also have a number of temporary mobile testing units shown below.

Residents are offered a PCR test and then given a number of lateral flow tests to take home.

Temporary mobile testing units

If you don’t have symptoms, you can turn up to any of the mobile testing units below without an appointment:

  • Middlewich Town Football Club, Finney’s Lane, Middlewich CW10 9DR
    Opening hours: 9am to 4pm, 7 days a week, available until 15 June 2021
  • Cranage Hall, Byley Lane, Cranage, Holmes Chapel, CW4 8EW
    Opening hours: 9am to 4pm, 7 days a week, available until 15 June 2021
  • Handforth Youth Centre, Old Road, Handforth, Wilmslow, SK9 3DA
    Opening hours: 10.30am to 2.30pm, 7 days a week, available until 13 June 2021.


Getting a test if you have symptoms

Coronavirus symptoms are:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

Testing when you have symptoms is by appointment only.

Get a test if you don’t have symptoms

Around 1 in 3 people who have COVID-19 show no symptoms. Regular rapid testing is important in identifying and stopping the spread of the virus. The government has announced access to free, regular symptom free tests for everyone in England, including people who have been vaccinated.
